Location: Travertino Florence is quarried in Italy.

Description: Travertino Florence is a beige travertine of the Pleistocene/Holocene period. This stone internationally may be nominated as a travertine and in the area of application of the European Standard this stone must be nominated as travertine.

A small sample of Travertino Florence is not representative owing to a wide variation in colour and veining. Swatch samples must be approved for large projects to ensure that the blocks are all extracted from the same quarry face for matching purposes. Ideal for both interior and exterior use however polish is only constant inside.

Mineral Composition: Average by %:

Travertine: Is a form of massive calcium carbonate, CaCO3, resulting from deposition by springs or rivers. It is often beautifully coloured and banded as a result of the presence of iron compounds or other (e.g., organic) impurities. This material is variously known as calc-sinter and calcareous tufa (when used for decorative purposes), in fact Travertine is actually a dense closely compacted form of limestone.
