Location: Venato Carrara marble is quarried near Belgia, Gioia, La Piana, Carrara, Massa-Carrara, Toscana, Italy.

Description: Venato Carrara marble is a compact, lithotype white marble verging on light grey with many intersecting dark grey veins. This stone internationally may be nominated as a marble and in the area of application of the European Standard this stone must be nominated as marble.

A small sample of Venato Carrara marble is not representative owing to a wide variation in colour and veining. Swatch samples must be approved for large projects to ensure that the blocks are all extracted from the same quarry face for matching purposes. Venato Carrara marble is frost resistant, ideal for both interior and exterior use however polish is only constant inside.

Mineral Composition: Average by %:

Marble: Is a metamorphosed limestone, composed of very pure calcium carbonate, CaCO3. The softness of marble and its relative isotropy and homogeneity make marble very desirable for sculpture and building stone. Although marble comes from limestone, the temperatures and pressures necessary to form marble usually destroy any fossils that may have been present in the limestone.
