Tiziano Red Granite
Return to granite samples page.
Synonyms: Rosso Tiziano
Location: Tiziano Red granite is quarried in Brazil.
Description: Tiziano Red granite is a natural red-grey conglomerate with grey to pink pebbles of granite and/or gneiss in a fine red groundmass. This stone internationally may be nominated as a granite but in the area of application of the European Standard we are awaiting clarification.
Ideal for both interior and exterior use, Tiziano Red granite is frost free and polish constant however the veining and colour varies considerably therefore a small sample is not representative of the whole block or slabs.
Granite: Granite is a common and widely occurring type of intrusive, felsic, igneous rock. Granites are usually medium to coarse grained, occasionally with some individual crystals larger than the groundmass forming a rock known as porphyry. Granites can be pink to dark grey or even black, depending on their chemistry and mineralogy.
Gneiss: A common and widely distributed type of rock formed by high-grade regional metamorphic processes from pre-existing formations that were originally either igneous or sedimentary rocks. Gneissic rocks are usually medium to coarse-foliated and largely recrystallized but do not carry large quantities of micas, chlorite or other platy minerals. Gneisses that are metamorphosed igneous rocks or their equivalent are termed granite gneisses, diorite gneisses, etc.
