Location: Baltic Green granite is quarried near Suomenniemi, Ylaemaa, Rantamaeki, Findland. Near the Russian border and uarried since 1988.
Description: Baltic Green granite is a Commercial name for a green-grey granite (rapakivi) of the Precambrian period with pyroxene. It has a spherical shape of the potassic feldspars. This stone internationally may be nominated as a granite and in the area of application of the European Standard this stone must be nominated as a granite. Ideal for both interior and exterior use, Baltic Green granite is frost free and polish constant. The veining and colour varies considerably and a small sample my not be representative of the whole slab therefore Baltic Green granite swatch samples must be approved for large projects to ensure that the blocks are all extracted from the same quarry face for matching purposes.
Mineral Composition: Orthoclase 55%, Quartz 23%, Plagioclase 15%, Others 7%
Granite: Granite is a common and widely occurring type of intrusive, felsic, igneous rock. Granites are usually medium to coarse grained, occasionally with some individual crystals larger than the groundmass forming a rock known as porphyry. Granites can be pink to dark grey or even black, depending on their chemistry and mineralogy.
